MFA in Writing & Publishing Fall Reading Series Kicks Off September 14th

The first reading of the semester will feature the program’s new administrative leaders! September 14th, 5:30pm in Café Anna.

The MFA in Writing & Publishing program welcomes a new leadership team in Fall 2018. To celebrate, Rita Banerjee—Director, Erin Stalcup—Hunger Mountain Editor & Faculty, and Lizzy Fox—Associate Director will be featured in the Fall semester’s first reading. Each administrator is a writer in her own right, and both Rita and Erin will serve as faculty in the program.

About the Team:

Rita Banerjee is the author of the poetry collection Echo in Four Beats (Finishing Line Press, March 2018), the novella “A Night with Kali” in Approaching Footsteps (Spider Road Press, 2016), and the poetry chapbook Cracklers at Night (Finishing Line Press, 2010). She edited CREDO: An Anthology of Manifestos and Sourcebook for Creative Writing (C&R Press, May 2018).

She comes to us with a doctorate in Comparative Literature from Harvard University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington. Rita serves as the Executive Creative Director of the Cambridge Writers’ Workshop and is an Associate Scholar of Comparative Literature at Harvard University.

Erin Stalcup is the author of the story collection, And Yet It Moves (Indiana University Press, 2016), and the novel Every Living Species (Gold Wake Press, 2017). Erin received her MFA from Warren Wilson College’s Program for Writers, and later served as the Joan Beebe Fellow at Warren Wilson. She joins VCFA after teaching in community colleges, universities, and prisons in New York City, North Carolina, Texas, and Arizona. Prior to being named Hunger Mountain’s editor, she co-founded Waxwing Literary Journal.

Lizzy Fox joined VCFA’s staff as the MFA in Writing & Publishing’s Program Assistant in July, 2017. She recently accepted a promotion to Associate Director and holds her MFA in Writing (poetry) from VCFA’s low-residency Writing program. Lizzy has taught poetry and performance in partnership with the Vermont Arts Council, Flynn Arts, The New England Young Writers Conference, and countless area schools.
