MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults Program Director

Status: Full-time, salaried
Reports to: Academic Dean

We are seeking a candidate who will:

  • Manage the strategic direction, organization, and operations of program
  • Oversee and direct the student admission and enrollment process
  • Oversee student retention and progress through the program
  • Collaborate with the faculty in the faculty hiring, retention, and termination process
  • Supervise program staff and program office

The Program Director is a managerial, administrative position reporting to the Academic Dean. The Program Director has primary responsibility for the program, working in close collaboration with the Faculty Chair to ensure academic excellence. The Program Director role is characterized by exceptional collaboration skills, administrative experience, an entrepreneurial temperament, attention to detail, demonstrated budget management experience, and excellent organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills. This is not a faculty position.

Human Resources & Payroll Assistant

Status: Full-time, salaried
Reports to: Controller

As a member of the VCFA Finance team this position will provide human resource, payroll, and administrative support.  The ideal candidate is friendly, responsible, detail- and service-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements: Two years human resources experience; associate’s degree preferred; ADP (or similar payroll experience) is a plus.

Responsibilities

HR:

  • Helps onboard new employees—ensures new hire paperwork, including background checks, are completed
  • Maintains employee files with all required documents
  • Assists employees with HR processing and questions
  • Assists managers with postings for open positions

Payroll:

  • Collect and enter employee hours into payroll
  • Enter new employee information into payroll system
  • Update ADP with employee changes as needed
  • Responsible for ADP reporting and biweekly payroll processing
  • Eventual ownership of all HR components of ADP
  • Maintain sick and vacation time balances
  • Provides ADP reporting for workers compensation audit, and as needed

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain insurance policy records and policy information
  • Prepare cash receipts and make weekly bank deposits
  • Liaise with benefits representatives as needed
  • Assist the AP/HR Coordinator as needed
  • Other ad hoc human resource projects as needed
